University of Utah Lee Library

Brief Description of Project

Heath Engineering Company provided HVAC system design, plumbing and fire protection design for the new underground library facility. The overall construction cost was $31 million. The mechanical construction cost was approximately $5 million. The mechanical systems included a 1,200 ton central chilled water plant, and connection into the central campus high temperature water system.
The high temperature water is used to produce building heating water with a capacity of 12,000,000 Btuh.
To conserve energy the lowest kw/ton chiller was used.
Minimum outside air fans were used to control ventilation while keeping the outside air volume as low as possible
